The flexible and secure on-demand server solution that can be isolated from or integrated into existing computer environments with zero up front capital costs and no long-term commitments.
Managing a modern computing environment has evolved into a best-practice strategy that compartmentalizes mission-critical applications into isolated environments for security, stability, and political reasons. This strategy reduces the risk and complexity of running mission-critical applications. It also dramatically increases the cost of delivering those applications to end-users, especially when combined with disaster recovery and additional infrastructure costs. Network Foundations created the vSERVER solution to enable our clients to build best-practice infrastructures without any up front capital costs by using a fixed-cost utility computing model.
Solution Description
Network Foundations’ vSERVER is an on-demand server solution used to build custom server infrastructures. It offers the flexibility of being pre-loaded with any OS and customized with the right amount of computing resources (CPU, RAM, Storage) to be used for any type of application. Once configured, the vSERVER infrastructure can either become an extension of a client’s current datacenter or an isolated computing environment to meet corporate policy, development, or security requirements.
Quick and Easy Startup
Once you sign up, we will send you a simple set of directions to get connected and start using or managing your application. Many clients are up and running the same day they sign up. Our expert staff will be available to help you with any issues, and can remotely connect to your vSERVER to help with configuration and management issues.
Secure and Stable Environment
All vSERVERs are hosted in professional datacenter facilities managed by Equinix and powered by brand name equipment such as IBM, Cisco, Barracuda, and Network Appliance. We monitor all hardware and connectivity 24/7 to ensure optimal uptime for our clients and automatically fix any problems that surface. All vSERVERs are backed up in a disaster-recovery fashion once a week as part of the base package. Additional backups, such as daily backups, can be arranged as add-on options. All backups are performed to off-site on-line storage devices, which eliminates the need for tape backups. This ensures quick recovery of data, and avoids security issues associated with moving tape to off-site storage locations.
Flexible Administration
Clients that want to configure and mange their own environment are granted full administrative access to each vSERVER, including console access to see the boot screen. Clients that want to outsource their vSERVER’s infrastructure management can use our in-house consulting services or their own third-party designation, and then tailor the level of administrative access granted to different parties.
Robust Functionality
vSERVER provides the same robust functionality of a full dedicated server. Below is a list of the functionality included with every vSERVER:
- Dedicated processor(s)
- Dedicated RAM
- Dedicated disk space
- Choice of OS with flexible licensing
- Static public IP address
- Static domain hositng
- Dedicated Internet bandwidth bustable options
- Managed security firewall
- Managed VPN connectivity
- Emergency 24x7 smart hands support
- Server snapshot technology
- Weekly disaster recovery backup
- Physical to virtual migrations
- Virtual to physical migrations
- Optional server management
Solution Benefits
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
Today’s business environments operate around the clock with downtime resulting in significant financial losses. Business continuity and disaster recovery are essential parts of doing business. Network Foundations’ vSERVER plays an important role in creating a cost-effective disaster recovery plan. vSERVER can rapidly provide one-on-one mapping of your critical servers without having to purchase duplicate hardware. This solution allows business to create a disaster recovery site at a fraction of the cost by eliminating the capital expenses of purchasing servers and building a datacenter. With vSERVER, clients only pay for the resources they use.
Intelligent Infrastructure
vSERVER is the ideal platform to help business of all sizes create a rock solid and budget-friendly backoffice infrastructure without the need to build out or maintain expensive on-site datacenter/computer rooms that continually require cooling, power, bandwidth, and maintenance. The vSERVER solution provides the computing resources you require with “LAN-like” access to your servers and no limitation to the way you configure them.
Isolated Security Zones
Hosting Internet applications within your corporate network significantly increases the risks associated with network security. Even businesses that have implemented a firewall DMZ are not completely protected from the Internet. Denial of Service and other sophisticated attacks not only affect your DMZ, but can also affect your entire network. The vSERVER solution provides a cost-effective way for businesses to take advantage of best security practices, avoid potential threats to private corporate networks, and migrate their Internet application to an isolated vSERVER infrastructure.
Rapid Application Deployment
Larger organizations with stringent security polices can use vSERVER to create a test environment to evaluate and test new applications before they are released into the production environment. Because vSERVER is an on-demand solution with no long-term contracts, it is an ideal testing environment with no up front or recurring hardware or infrastructure costs once testing is compete.
